Just like many towns across the globe have their own public skateparks, the promise within the world of manmade surfing is that the same will happen with wave pools. We’re not quite there yet, but the wave pool business appears to be booming. Every other day, it seems, there’s a new pool being planned somewhere on the map.

So, in sticking with the skatepark analogy, it would make sense that wave pools would also become a private, at-home amenity, if things progress as they are, one day down the line. Like a backyard halfpipe…but make it surfing. Right?

SurfLoch, a longtime player in the wave pool space, has announced a compact version of their pneumatic wave-making technology, specifically designed for private residences, boutique resorts, or space-constrained locations. The new model, GT100, fits in an Olympic 50m pool and delivers up to 2.5m (8ft) performance waves with dedicated left and right primary waves.

According to a press release: “GT100 delivers a compact design that preserves SurfLoch’s hallmark ocean wave authenticity while empowering developers to bring world class surfing into smaller footprints.” Features include ride times up to ten seconds, barrel and air sections, beginner-friendly zones alongside high-performance lines, and efficient, scalable power delivery with no moving parts in the water.

The wave pool also includes an optional secondary reef for increased capacity. For pricing, inquiries can be sent to sales@surfloch.com. This announcement follows SurfLoch’s earlier reveal of the WaveBender technology, which promises ocean-like power and uniquely sculptured wave faces.
