Panasonic has launched a substantial set of firmware updates for six of its full-frame Lumix S series cameras, several S Pro lenses, and its companion smartphone applications. The updates introduce support for the new DMW-DMS1 digital shotgun microphone, enhance video workflow tools in the Lumix Flow app, and add customizable control ring options for select lenses.

The cameras receiving updates include the S1R II (v1.5), S1 II (v1.4), S1 IIE (v1.4), S5 II (v3.7), S5 IIX (v2.7), and S9 (v1.9). Four S Pro lenses—the 16-35mm f/4, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8 O.I.S., and 70-200mm f/4 O.I.S.—gain a new firmware (v2.0) that transforms their focus rings into customizable control rings and allows adjustment of the manual focus rotation direction.

The Lumix Flow app (v1.5) receives a new Director Monitor mode with clip management tools, direct LUT selection, and customizable frame markers. The Lumix Lab app (v2.0.4) is updated with features for managing multiple LUTs, zooming during photo edits, and improved location logging stability.
