Microsoft has announced the expansion of its Windows 365 Cloud PC ecosystem with two new dedicated devices from ASUS and Dell, significantly increasing the service's global availability. The new hardware includes the ASUS NUC 16 and the Dell Pro Desktop for Windows 365, both designed to connect users to a virtual Windows desktop via the cloud.
The Dell Pro Desktop is scheduled to launch in 58 countries in Q3 2026, while the ASUS NUC 16 features a compact 0.7L design. These additions join Microsoft's own Windows 365 Link device, currently available in 20 countries. Cloud PCs are marketed for their IT management benefits, enhanced security due to a reduced local attack surface, and flexibility for hybrid work environments, as no data is stored locally on the device.
Windows 365 is a subscription service for business and enterprise users, with plans starting at $31 per user per month. It allows access to a cloud-based Windows instance from various devices, including iPads, Android tablets, and Macs. The expansion of dedicated Cloud PC hardware reignites the debate on whether subscription-based, cloud-first computing represents the future of the traditional PC model.
