Insights into Scrapped GTA 5 Content

Recent data leaks originating from Rockstar Games have provided fans with a rare glimpse into projects that never saw the light of day. According to information surfacing online, the leaked files contain source code for Grand Theft Auto 5, evidence of abandoned single-player expansions, and early map iterations for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6.

The current consensus among industry observers is that this information stems from the 2022 security breach involving the Lapsus group, which originally exposed early footage of the next entry in the series.

The Liberty City Expansion

Reports from community investigators, including YouTuber TJGM, suggest that Rockstar had plans to bring Liberty City into the GTA 5 engine. While the project was ultimately shelved, internal audio loading zones found within the leaked data allow for a reconstruction of the city's layout. This version of the iconic map appears to have featured a different design and larger scale than the iteration seen in Grand Theft Auto 4.

The 'Agent Trevor' Project

More substantial evidence has emerged regarding a cancelled expansion referred to as "Agent Trevor." User findings on social media indicate that this project included:

  • A complete list of mission files.
  • Various model assets and map geometries.
  • An intriguing underwater base design, which users have managed to load directly into the GTA 5 game client for exploration.

Early Prototypes of GTA 6

The leak also offers a look at a preliminary map for GTA 6, which reportedly dates back to 2015. Although the build is described as highly unfinished, it contains specific location markers that provide insight into the development process:

«The early map layout features distinct zones, including an Alligator Farm, a Coast Guard facility, and a disused theme park, indicating that the core setting for the new game has been in conceptual development for quite some time.»

These findings show clear parallels when compared against the environments showcased in the official trailers for the upcoming title, which is scheduled for release on consoles on November 19.

Despite the anticipation surrounding the release, Take-Two Interactive has yet to confirm a launch window for the PC version of the game. While CEO Strauss Zelnick recently emphasized the growing importance of the PC platform, players remain waiting for an official announcement regarding a release on that system.
