Pricing Adjustments for the Upcoming Wearable
Following recent reports regarding potential price increases for the Pixel 11 smartphone series, new information suggests that Google is also planning to raise the cost of its next-generation smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5. According to leaks from Dealabs, consumers should prepare for a $50 price hike compared to previous iterations.
Under this new pricing structure, the 41mm version of the Pixel Watch 5 is expected to start at $399 in the United States, while the larger 45mm model will reportedly begin at $429. Additionally, users who opt for LTE-enabled variants will need to budget an extra $100 over the standard non-cellular models.
Market Pressures and Component Costs
Industry analysts point toward the rising expenses of memory components as the primary driver behind this shift. While budget-oriented technology products have been the most impacted by these inflationary trends, the Pixel Watch line is now also feeling the effect. It is important to highlight that this marks the first time Google has adjusted the pricing of its smartwatch series since its inception.
Design and Color Options
Aside from the pricing news, reports from Nieuwe Mobiel indicate that the Pixel Watch 5 will be available in four distinct colorways:
- Natural Silver
- Dark Anthracite
- Warm Gold
- Pyrite
The leak further specifies that the silver and gold models will feature a polished finish, whereas the pyrite and anthracite options will sport a matte aesthetic. Notably, the "Warm Gold" variant will be exclusive to the 41mm model. This design choice appears to be a strategic move to match the aesthetic of the rumored gold-finished Pixel 11 series.
While the polished gold finish may raise concerns regarding durability and potential scratches, consumers won't have to wait long for official confirmation. With Google’s hardware launch event scheduled for next month, all details regarding the new product lineup will be unveiled shortly.
