EA's 'skate.' Partners with X Games

Electronic Arts and developer Full Circle have announced a major collaboration between their title skate. and the X Games. Running from July 21 to August 25, the update will introduce a virtual stadium featuring challenges inspired by the X Games, allowing players to engage in an authentic competition environment.

«X Games has always been about giving the world's best skateboarders a stage to push what's possible,» stated X Games CEO Jeremy Bloom. The developers noted that the goal was to translate the genuine flow and intensity of real-world sporting events into the virtual space.


David Beckham Joins Fortnite

Starting July 17, football legend David Beckham is entering the Fortnite Icon Series. To mark the occasion, players can participate in the David Beckham Icon Cup. The Item Shop will introduce two primary bundles:

  • David Beckham Outfit: Features reactive tattoos and a shirtless alternative style.
  • Club Owner David Beckham Outfit: An off-pitch look featuring unique emotes and reactive back bling.

Call of Duty and D-topia Updates

At Fanatics Fest, the first look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's new mode, Kill Block, was unveiled. Launching October 23, the mode features modular battlegrounds that reconfigure their layout between matches, forcing players to constantly adapt their combat tactics. The mode supports 3v3 and 10v10 gameplay across various map configurations.

Meanwhile, Mariumittu Games and Annapurna Interactive have released D-topia. This narrative-driven sci-fi adventure casts players as a maintenance worker in a post-AI utopian society. The game emphasizes player choice, with branching narrative paths that influence the outcome of the story.


Industry News and Corporate Shifts

The Sims 4 is set to receive a significant update on July 21, including highly anticipated features like automatic save points, save reminders, and performance improvements to frame rates across all platforms. Furthermore, Saber Interactive has appointed industry veteran Steve Allison as their new chief business officer. Allison, formerly of Epic Games, will oversee marketing and publishing for the studio's upcoming projects.

Lastly, ByteRockers' Games has partnered with Elysium Games to publish the cyberpunk thriller Neo Berlin 2087. The announcement was made during a special event in Berlin, which also teased new projects including the plant shop simulator Rosaby Roots and the horror title Lavender Fields.
