Enhancing Audio Performance in the Cockpit
Pilots who operate various types of aircraft often face the difficulty of selecting a headset that performs optimally with specific engine characteristics. Addressing this need, Lightspeed Aviation, a prominent manufacturer of high-end, customizable headsets, has unveiled the aviation industry’s inaugural audio and automatic noise reduction (ANR) profile specifically engineered for Rotax powerplants, compatible with their Delta Zulu model.
Strategic Collaboration for Rotax Engines
This development is part of a strategic partnership integrated into the Rotax Care program. The new, optimized audio profile is designed to support the Rotax 912 iS/c, 915 iS/c, and 916 iS engine series. According to the company, this specialized configuration provides a tailored auditory experience, resulting in enhanced clarity during communications and a more comfortable, balanced environment within the cockpit.
Accessing the New Feature
Owners of the Lightspeed Delta Zulu headset can look forward to accessing this update later this fall. The new capability will be delivered through a standard firmware upgrade. To implement the Rotax-specific profile once it goes live, users should perform the following steps:
- Launch the Lightspeed application on your device and verify that you are running the most recent version.
- Establish a Bluetooth connection between your smartphone and the Delta Zulu headset.
- Check for the firmware update notification within the iOS app and select "Yes" to initiate the process.
- Maintain the connection while the update completes its download and installation.
