A New Deep-Sea Horror Experience
The highly anticipated first-person fishing adventure DREADMOOR is officially bringing its haunting atmosphere to players with an upcoming public demo. Developer Dream Dock, in partnership with publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment, confirmed that the demo will be available on Steam for PC starting Tuesday, October 6. The announcement was made via a brand-new trailer showcased during the Secret Sauce event.
Building Momentum
While this release represents a trial version rather than the full game, it serves as the most comprehensive look at the title to date. DREADMOOR has quickly become a standout project on Valve’s platform, currently securing a spot among the top 150 most wishlisted titles on Steam. The game initially captured significant attention during the Steam Ocean Fest, where its unique day-to-night mechanics and intense aquatic encounters helped the project reach a milestone of 200,000 wishlists.
Surviving the Submerged Lands
The game transports players to the Submerged Lands, a desolate, cursed environment shaped by a past catastrophe. Players navigate the treacherous waters in a worn-out vessel, forced to fish for survival. The experience involves hunting mutated creatures—ranging from small, razor-toothed fish to massive, predatory terrors capable of fighting back. The central gameplay loop is simple yet perilous: venture into the bayou, secure your catch, and return to safety before becoming prey yourself.
Gameplay Mechanics and Upgrades
DREADMOOR offers a unique twist on the traditional fishing simulator, blending survival elements with horror themes. Players can:
- Sell their haul to purchase upgraded gear.
- Dissect rare catches to harvest organs, which can be crafted into specialized, high-quality lures for elusive deep-water monsters.
- Salvage scrap from wreckage to reinforce and improve their boat.
- Visit a unique bait shop perched above the water on massive crab-like legs.
«DREADMOOR is a mash-up of our two favorite things, movies and fishing. This demo will offer the deepest dive yet into what DREADMOOR has to offer, and with the valuable feedback we collect from our community, we will make the game even better,» noted Dream Dock CEO Rotislav Fedorov.
Global Availability
The DREADMOOR demo will feature localization support for thirteen languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Interested players can currently add the game to their Steam wishlists to stay updated on its progress.
