Brightin Star has officially announced two prototype prime lenses at the CP+ trade show in Japan, both made of metal and designed to boost creativity. One of them is an unusual 50mm lens that can adapt to three different styles.
The full-frame, manual-focus duo includes an apochromatic (APO) 35mm f/1.7 aspherical (ASPH) for Leica M-mount and a 50mm f/2 Tri-Sight for Canon RF-Mount, Nikon Z-Mount, Sony E-Mount, and L-Mount cameras.
The 50mm f/2 Tri-Sight allows creators to use three switchable optical styles from one lens. Photographers and videographers can switch between Smooth (a classic soft focus look), Prime (standard rendering), and Foams (bubble bokeh with a harder edge) without changing lenses.
A drop-in filter system and stepless aperture further enhance creative control. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.7m, 11 optical elements in 7 groups, weighs 459g, and measures 68mm in diameter and 78mm in height.
The APO 35mm f/1.7 ASPH focuses on sharpness with three double-sided aspherical elements, delivering edge-to-edge sharpness, better contrast, and reduced distortion. Its apochromatic design minimizes chromatic aberration.
Despite weighing only 266g, the metal lens hood offers added protection. Final designs may change, and details on pricing and release date are expected later.
