Revolutionizing Home Health Metrics

Withings has officially announced its latest lineup of health-focused smart scales, spearheaded by the new BodyFit model. Moving beyond simple weight tracking, the company emphasizes that a truly accurate health overview requires a deeper look at body composition, which the new device aims to provide in just 10 seconds.

Advanced Multi-Zone Analysis

The BodyFit scale utilizes a sophisticated array of eight electrodes—integrated into both the foot platform and a retractable handle—to execute a "six-zone" analysis. This design enables the device to measure the arms, legs, and torso independently, offering users a comprehensive breakdown of muscle and fat distribution across different body areas.

By employing Bioelectrical Impedance Spectroscopy (BIS) across 13 frequencies reaching up to 800kHz, the scale claims to capture over 40 distinct physiological metrics.

Challenging the Clinical Gold Standard

The standout promise of the BodyFit is its performance relative to DEXA scanning, the medical industry's benchmark for body composition accuracy. According to a validation study performed by the French sports-health center Mon Stade, Withings reports the following:

  • Up to 99% correlation for total fat mass measurements.
  • Up to 98% correlation for muscle mass measurements.
«While these results are highly encouraging, they should be interpreted as a validation of the technology’s precision rather than an assertion that a consumer scale can fully substitute a clinical DEXA examination,» the report suggests.

Expanding the Product Ecosystem

In addition to the BodyFit, Withings is updating its premium scale offerings. The existing Body Scan model will continue to provide cardiovascular insights, such as six-lead ECGs and Vascular Age, while the new flagship, the BodyScan 2, introduces cardiometabolic tracking, including blood oxygen monitoring and advanced heart age analysis.

All devices sync seamlessly with the Withings application to monitor long-term health trends. Furthermore, those who purchase the BodyFit will be granted a one-month trial of Withings+, the company's AI-driven health assistant platform.

Pricing and Availability

The new devices are scheduled to hit the market on July 1, 2026, with the following pricing structure:

  • BodyFit: £230
  • Body Scan: £350
  • BodyScan 2: £450

These scales will be available through major retailers, including Amazon and various specialized health and electronics stores.
