Development on Skyblivion, the highly anticipated mod designed to rebuild The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion within the enhanced engine of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition, continues to make steady progress. While an official launch date remains pending, the team is signaling that the project is approaching its final stages, leading them to call for additional support from the community.
Rather than seeking further programming or technical assistance to complete the mod, the developers are focusing their current recruitment efforts on marketing and communications. In a recent announcement on the project's Discord server, the team stated:
«With our release getting closer, our communications team is expanding—and we need your help spreading the word! We're looking for volunteers with a background in video production or social media to help support projects like trailer editing, gameplay captures, and developer interviews. You'll be working alongside our communications department to get the word out!»
Progress and Timeline Uncertainty
Details regarding the current state of the development remain somewhat vague. Originally slated for a 2025 debut, the release window was pushed back to 2026. Earlier this year, project lead Rebelzize expressed a cautiously optimistic outlook, though he acknowledged that unforeseen complications could still potentially result in further scheduling setbacks.
Recent activity from the team has been relatively sparse, focused mainly on community outreach and paying respects to late modder Kettlewitch, a key mentor who passed away this past June. The current push to ramp up promotional efforts suggests that the project is nearing its conclusion.
