Rapid Expansion for the Dawnwalker Saga

The vampiric horror RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker has cemented its status as a breakout hit less than a week after hitting the shelves. With over one million units sold, an impressive 83% score from PC Gamer, and a highly favorable rating on Steam, developer Rebel Wolves is wasting no time mapping out the future of the franchise.

Building the Next Chapter

Rather than taking a break after the successful debut, the studio is already looking toward the horizon. Jakub Szamałek, the narrative director at Rebel Wolves, confirmed on LinkedIn that the team is actively preparing for the game's next evolution.

“We’re not resting on our laurels,” Szamałek noted, while announcing that he is currently seeking a lead writer to assist the narrative department in shaping the next chapter of the Dawnwalker saga.

High Standards for New Talent

The studio’s search for a lead writer is rigorous, emphasizing the need for exceptional creative ability and leadership experience. According to the job posting, the ideal candidate must possess:

  • At least six years of professional experience in narrative design or writing within the gaming sector.
  • A proven history of high-level accomplishments in the industry.
  • The ability to oversee a team of writers while collaborating directly with narrative leadership on dialogue, lore, and in-game documentation.

A Foundation of Industry Veterans

While some might find it ambitious for a studio to pivot to a sequel so quickly, Rebel Wolves is comprised of seasoned industry professionals. The team includes veterans from CD Projekt, with Szamałek himself boasting an extensive portfolio that includes lead writing roles on Cyberpunk 2077, Thronebreaker, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This deep well of experience suggests that the studio is well-positioned to build upon the momentum generated by their initial release.
