Enhanced AI Performance for Personal Audio

Qualcomm has officially debuted the Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2, a cutting-edge chip engineered to integrate sophisticated artificial intelligence into the next wave of audio electronics. This hardware is set to power a variety of devices, including high-end earbuds, headphones, smart eyewear, and future audio wearables equipped with onboard cameras.

According to the company, this latest platform represents a significant leap forward, offering double the AI processing power compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform.

Natural AI Interaction

As AI integration becomes standard, the way consumers interact with technology is evolving. Ziad Asghar, Senior Vice President and General Manager for XR, Wearables, and Personal AI at Qualcomm, emphasized the shift toward voice-centric experiences:

«As AI becomes a core capability, users will increasingly expect more natural ways to interact with it. Those interactions won't always happen through a screen. They will happen through natural conversations, where users can simply speak to an AI assistant and receive help in real time.»

The new chip aims to facilitate these seamless interactions, providing the computational capacity for advanced applications such as real-time language translation and auditory enhancement for users with hearing difficulties.

Connectivity and Audio Fidelity

Beyond its AI capabilities, the chip retains Qualcomm’s commitment to high-fidelity audio. It includes support for the company’s aptX Lossless technology, ensuring an immersive listening experience. Furthermore, it incorporates XPAN wireless technology, which cleverly bridges Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to significantly improve connectivity range.

The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6E allows for higher data speeds, which Qualcomm notes is essential for maintaining "always-on" AI functionality without compromising battery life or audio performance.
