The Pokémon Company has officially unveiled the next generation of its flagship series. During a special 30th-anniversary "Pokémon Presents" livestream, the company revealed "Pokémon Winds" and "Pokémon Waves," marking the beginning of the 10th generation. The games are scheduled for release in 2027 on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The presentation introduced the three new starter Pokémon: Browt, a grass-type chick; Pombon, a fire-type inspired by Pomeranians; and Gecqua, a water-type gecko. A teaser trailer showcased a vast, detailed open world far more expansive than recent titles like "Scarlet" and "Violet." The region features diverse environments including tropical forests, oceans, grassy plains, and volcanoes, each populated with various Pokémon. The trailer also hinted at new customization options, showing two Pikachu in different costumes.
Additionally, the stream announced that classic games "Pokémon FireRed," "LeafGreen," and "Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness" are coming to Nintendo Switch Online. A new battling game, "Pokémon Champions," will launch on Switch in April and on mobile devices later this year.
