Japanese electronics firm Mouse Computer has unveiled the X2, an impressively portable notebook that weighs only 981 grams. Designed for users who prioritize mobility without sacrificing processing power, the device features a 12.2-inch display within a frame measuring 277.1 mm by 210.2 mm with a thickness of 19 mm.
Processing Power and Configurations
The X2 offers users three distinct AMD APU options tailored to different performance requirements:
- Ryzen 5 216: An entry-level six-core processor featuring two Zen 4 cores and four Zen 4c cores.
- Ryzen AI 5 340: Part of the Krackan Point series, this six-core chip offers competitive performance, reportedly rivaling the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H in multi-core tasks.
- Ryzen AI 7 350: The flagship option, packing eight cores (four Zen 5 and four Zen 5c), providing performance levels that approach the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H.
Display and Connectivity
The laptop is equipped with a 12.2-inch screen boasting a 1920x1200 resolution and full sRGB color gamut coverage. Additional hardware highlights include a 180-degree hinge, a 60 Wh battery, and a 500 GB NVMe SSD. For connectivity, the device provides Gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5, USB Type-A ports, HDMI output, and a microSD slot. Security is managed via a 2 MP webcam with a privacy shutter and Windows Hello support.
Upgradability and Availability
While the laptop ships with 16 GB of memory, it includes an accessible SODIMM slot, allowing users to easily expand their RAM up to 32 GB. According to the manufacturer, the battery can sustain approximately 12.5 hours of video playback or up to 25 hours in idle mode under JEITA 3.0 testing standards.
The X2 is available in three colors: Cosmo Blue, Frost Gold, and Pearl White. Pricing starts at approximately $1,545 for the Ryzen AI 5 model and moves to roughly $1,670 for the Ryzen AI 7 version. Currently, the device is exclusive to the Japanese market, with distribution handled through the official Mouse Computer online store.
