Lensbaby, known for creative camera optics, is previewing its new Twist 28 lens, calling it the brand's "most requested lens of all-time." This compact pancake lens combines a 28mm focal length with a Petzval-inspired swirling bokeh effect, where backgrounds appear to twist around the subject.
Scheduled for launch on April 2, the lens is designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras. It arrives as pancake lenses gain popularity for offering a compact alternative to trendy small cameras. Weighing only 140g, Lensbaby promotes it as a "daily-carry creative tool" due to its lightweight design and unique swirly bokeh.
The Twist 28mm features manual focus with a minimum focus distance of 8 inches (200mm), a fixed f/3.5 circular aperture, and optics optimized for color and contrast. It will be compatible with Canon RF, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Sony E, and Micro Four Thirds mounts, providing full-frame coverage but also working with cropped sensors.
