A New Look for Samsung Wearables
Recent leaks have provided an early glimpse into a potential redesign of Samsung’s Wearables application. Reports suggest that the company is planning to refresh the app's interface to better align with the minimalist and modern aesthetic of its current One UI software. Based on the discovered mockups, the home screen will undergo the most noticeable change, featuring a prominent, high-resolution rendering of the user's connected Galaxy Watch that dominates the display.
To keep the interface clean, navigation options and settings will be reorganized into compact containers, creating a more immersive experience for users when browsing features or previewing watch faces.
Enhanced AI and Functional Features
Beyond the visual updates, the leaked code points toward deeper integration of AI-driven tools. One of the most talked-about features is a gesture-based trigger for Google Gemini. According to rumors, Samsung may introduce a "raise wrist" gesture to activate the voice assistant, potentially eliminating the need to long-press the physical side button. Furthermore, Galaxy AI is expected to enable the creation of custom, interest-based tiles, such as dedicated widgets for sports updates or news headlines.
For those using the rugged Galaxy Watch Ultra, the update could introduce specialized tracking capabilities, including:
- Real-time elevation data for Trail Run tracking.
- Enhanced companion controls for the Depth app.
Focus on Health and Wellness Metrics
Samsung is also doubling down on its health-tracking capabilities. As previously discussed by the company, new features like "Vitals" are set to play a larger role. This tool aggregates five essential metrics—heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen—to provide a comprehensive view of the user’s well-being.
"Vitals will enhance the app's pre-existing Energy Score by comparing these metrics to the user's resting baseline to highlight any important changes," the source notes.
Additionally, the upcoming One UI 9 Watch software is expected to feature a new "Heart Rate Score," which analyzes data points like sleep quality, stress levels, and body composition to identify factors that might negatively influence cardiovascular health.
