A New Approach to Morning Routines
IKEA has expanded its vast range of home products with the introduction of the Stengrönska, a versatile alarm clock designed to do more than just wake you up. Its primary goal is to help users break the habit of reaching for their smartphones first thing in the morning, thereby promoting better sleep hygiene and reducing daily screen time.
Design and Core Features
Measuring 17 cm by 16 cm with a slim profile of 3.6 cm, the Stengrönska features a compact, flat design. Its form factor is intentional, serving as a dedicated pad for wireless phone charging. Beyond timekeeping, the device functions as an environmental monitor, providing real-time data on room temperature and humidity, which helps users optimize their sleeping conditions.
The display is highly functional, offering:
- Adjustable backlight settings.
- Time display in 12-hour or 24-hour formats.
- Calendar information, including date and day of the week.
- Support for up to three distinct alarms with customizable volume levels.
Functionality and Connectivity
The alarm clock includes a standard snooze function set to a fixed nine-minute interval. For physical controls, the rear of the unit houses dedicated toggles for alarms and a volume adjustment dial. Furthermore, the device is equipped with a USB-C port, allowing users to charge a second device via a wired connection simultaneously while utilizing the wireless charging top.
IKEA emphasizes the wellness benefits of this new device, noting: «you can reduce your reliance on your mobile phone, which means less screen time — more well-being!»
Availability and Pricing
Currently, the Stengrönska is exclusively available in IKEA stores throughout Japan and China. In Japan, it is priced at ¥4,999 (approximately $32). Information regarding a broader global release has not yet been confirmed by the company.
