Enhanced Performance and Processing Power
Garmin has officially released the Enduro 4, the latest iteration of its flagship ultra-endurance smartwatch. While the design maintains a familiar aesthetic, the device houses significant internal improvements. The new model features a 50% increase in RAM and doubles the internal storage capacity to 64GB, offering ample space for expanded map data, music libraries, and personal fitness logs.
A key highlight of the update is the refined mapping engine. According to the manufacturer, the device now delivers 30% faster map panning. Additionally, users can utilize a new perspective view, which allows for greater detail at varying distances, helping trail runners and hikers better navigate challenging terrain.
Advanced Training and Tracking Tools
The Enduro 4 introduces sophisticated tools specifically designed for endurance performance. The watch now supports grade-adjusted pace-based workout targets, allowing athletes to tailor their training intensity based on terrain incline. Furthermore, the device includes real-time grade-adjusted rolling pace and new "stamina zones," which provide insights into how remaining energy levels impact activity performance.
Garmin has also expanded its activity library, which now boasts over 100 profiles. Specialized updates include:
- Indoor Rowing: Now supports advanced metrics such as VO2 max and power curve analysis.
- Rucking: Users can adjust pack weight mid-activity and establish specific targets, such as calorie expenditure.
Rugged Design and Battery Reliability
The hardware remains true to the series' roots, featuring a 51mm case, a durable titanium bezel, a fibre-reinforced polymer chassis, and a scratch-resistant Power Sapphire lens. The watch is built to withstand harsh environments with 10 ATM water resistance and includes the signature integrated LED flashlight, capable of both red and white light modes.
Despite the performance boosts, the battery longevity remains industry-leading. Garmin reports that the Enduro 4 continues to offer up to 90 days of battery life in smartwatch mode with solar charging, or up to 320 hours of continuous activity tracking in extended mode under optimal solar conditions.
The ComfortFit Fabric Band has been updated with the QuickFit system for easier adjustments, and the total weight of the watch is just 66 grams. The device is currently available for purchase through Garmin's regional online stores, priced at $900 / £800 / €900 / AU$1,449.
