New Innovation in Wearable Technology
Following the debut of the Oura Ring 5, Circular has introduced its latest offerings: the Circular Ring 3 Pro and the Circular Ring 3 Slim. Unveiled at IFA in Berlin, these devices introduce a range of advanced features that aim to redefine the capabilities of smart rings.
While the previous Circular Ring 2 was noted for its extensive health insights and ECG monitoring, it faced challenges with its software experience. Circular has since revamped its companion app and significantly expanded the utility of its hardware.
The Return of Haptic Feedback
One of the most requested features, haptic feedback, has made a return to the latest lineup. This functionality allows users to utilize the ring for various notifications, such as:
- Wake-up alarms
- Medication reminders
- Guided breathing exercises
- Vibration alerts for specific health metrics, like low heart rate
During testing, the vibrations were described as subtle yet effective, potentially setting a new standard for wearables as competitors like Fitbit and RingConn also begin integrating similar features.
NFC Payments Integration
Moving beyond basic fitness tracking, Circular is integrating NFC technology, allowing users to make contactless payments directly from their ring. The process is straightforward: users simply bring the ring close to a terminal, and a vibration confirms the transaction. The new models currently support both Visa and Mastercard systems.
Design and Comfort
The Circular Ring 3 Slim stands out for its compact form factor. While the Oura Ring 5 has been recognized for its comfort, the new Slim model is notably lightweight and narrow, aiming to provide a seamless user experience. While the Oura remains slightly thinner in specific dimensions, the Circular 3 series offers a competitive alternative that balances aesthetics with robust internal technology.
"The Circular Ring 3 Pro and 3 Slim are raising the stakes by focusing on daily utility, not just biometric data tracking," according to industry observers.
