Premium Lite launched in March 2025 at $7.99 per month, originally lacking these key features. The update addresses user feedback, making the plan more valuable for those who want ad-free viewing in the background and offline access without upgrading to full Premium.
YouTube will continue testing and building products to meet user needs. For full ad-free access across all content, the platform recommends the larger Premium plan.
