Samsung has quietly added a 24MP camera mode to the Galaxy S26 series, but it's not enabled by default. Users need to download the Camera Assistant app from the Galaxy Store to unlock it.
The mode uses AI Fusion processing to combine high-resolution detail with multi-frame computational photography, offering sharper images and better brightness than the standard 12MP setting. It's designed for simple point-and-shoot use, unlike Expert RAW's manual 24MP option.
While the Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 200MP main camera, most photos default to 12MP due to pixel binning. The new 24MP mode provides a middle ground between the fast 12MP shots and high-detail 50MP/200MP modes, improving detail without sacrificing natural colors or everyday reliability.
To enable the mode, install Camera Assistant, then toggle advanced resolution options in the settings. The feature may expand to older devices via future One UI updates, but for now, it's exclusive to the Galaxy S26 lineup.
