A New Generation of Tracking Technology
Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag 3, marking the third iteration of its popular item-tracking series. This latest model boasts a significantly more refined design, being both one-third thinner and lighter than the previous version. The device is designed to be easily attached to personal belongings, vehicles, luggage, or even pets to ensure constant location awareness.
Enhanced Battery and Design
One of the standout improvements is the device's longevity. The SmartTag 3 offers an impressive 550-day battery life, which can be extended to 790 days when utilizing power-save mode. Furthermore, Samsung has emphasized aesthetics by incorporating an aluminum-finished control button, adding a premium touch to the compact hardware.
Smart Features and Cross-OS Compatibility
The device introduces proactive alert capabilities. Users can define specific geographical boundaries, and the tracker will automatically send a push notification if it leaves that area. This eliminates the need for manual check-ins via the app.
A major development for the SmartTag 3 is its cross-OS support. As noted by the company, this functionality is particularly useful for families with mixed device environments:
«The addition of cross-OS support for both Android and Apple's iOS assists with sharing among trusted users, such as family members, so if your kids use an iPhone they can still follow along with the tracking information.»
Integration with the Galaxy Find Network
The device leverages the robust Galaxy Find Network, which currently comprises 900 million registered devices. This vast network significantly boosts location accuracy, ensuring that finding lost items is more reliable than ever. Additionally, the tracker supports routine triggers, allowing users to automate smart home actions—such as turning on lights—when the tag enters a specific location.
Availability
While South Korean consumers can expect the device to go on sale starting October 7, the global release is currently slated for early 2027. Pricing details for international markets have yet to be confirmed.
