New Additions to the Razer Lineup

Razer has officially expanded its popular Basilisk range with the announcement of two new models: the Basilisk V4 Pro and the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed. Both devices maintain the brand's signature ergonomic, futuristic aesthetic, offering a substantial feel for gamers who prefer a larger peripheral.

As expected from Razer's product hierarchy, the devices come at different price points. The HyperSpeed variant is positioned as the more accessible option at $110, while the Pro model serves as the premium choice with an MSRP of $170.

Technical Specifications

The two mice offer distinct hardware capabilities:

  • Basilisk V4 Pro: Equipped with a 50K optical sensor, 930 IPS tracking speed, 90G acceleration, and Frame Sync technology to align sensor scanning with polling rates.
  • Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed: Features a 33K sensor and 500 IPS tracking.

Notably, both versions support an 8K polling rate, usable in both wireless and wired configurations.

The Controversial 'Perfect 180' Feature

The standout addition is a configurable side button that enables the 'Perfect 180' function. Through Razer's Synapse software, users can map this to instantly snap their in-game camera 180 degrees with a single click. While Razer markets this as a tool specifically designed for players who utilize low-sensitivity settings, the feature has sparked early debates regarding competitive fairness, drawing comparisons to other controversial input-enhancing technologies.

"If I was sneaking up behind a player in DayZ and they turned around in an absolute instant, I'd be tempted to yell 'hax!' like the teenager I really am," notes one observer.

Design and Performance

Beyond the software tricks, the hardware remains highly refined. The mice incorporate a four-way tilt scroll wheel with a free-spin mode and utilize Razer’s Gen-4 tactile switches, which are engineered for high precision and satisfying feedback. The ergonomic shape features a pronounced tilt to the right, which remains comfortable even during extended sessions.

Connectivity and power management have also seen improvements. Razer claims the following battery benchmarks for the HyperSpeed connection:

  • HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 (1,000 Hz): Up to 200 hours.
  • Bluetooth 6.2: Up to 275 hours.

Additionally, the devices support wireless charging via the Razer Mouse Dock V2 Pro or compatible mouse pads, and naturally, they feature customizable Chroma RGB lighting throughout.
