Design Expectations and Certification Status
New reports indicate that Samsung is making progress on its next generation of premium tablets. According to information from the Safety Korea database, the Galaxy Tab S12 Plus has passed a critical certification milestone. This regulatory filing provides an initial, albeit potentially underwhelming, look at the device's physical design.
The leaked image from the database reveals a tablet that bears a striking resemblance to the predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S11. It maintains the same rounded-corner aesthetic that has defined the series in recent years. More notably, the image suggests that Samsung may be sticking to its current display design language, as the device appears to feature relatively thick bezels surrounding all four sides of the screen. The selfie camera remains integrated within these bezels, rather than transitioning to a more modern cutout style.
Looking Toward a 2026 Release
Despite the lack of major aesthetic overhauls, the certification filing is a positive indicator that development is proceeding as planned. Industry observers anticipate that the Galaxy Tab S12 Plus and its sibling, the S12 Ultra, are on track for an official unveiling in late 2026. This aligns with the typical September release window established by the S11 series. Furthermore, the discovery of associated model numbers in the Indian BIS database by 91Mobiles serves as additional confirmation that the product line is clearing the necessary regulatory hurdles.
Hardware Rumors and Future Expectations
As excitement builds for the new series, various rumors have begun to circulate regarding the top-tier S12 Ultra model. Early reports suggest that the hardware may see only incremental updates. Specifically, there is speculation that the device will retain the same 11,600mAh battery and 45W charging capacity found in the S11 Ultra.
While the hardware specifications appear largely consistent with previous iterations, there is still hope for refinement in the user interface and display experience. Speculation regarding design improvements has been fueled by a leaked animation discovered in a test version of One UI 9. As one source noted regarding the potential for design shifts:
“Instead of the camera notch, the animation teased a tablet with a punch-hole camera. This sounds like a dream, but it's unclear if (or when) Samsung would debut a Galaxy Tab like this.”
Whether Samsung chooses to adopt a cleaner, more immersive punch-hole display for the final consumer versions of the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup remains one of the most anticipated details for the upcoming launch.
