Expanding the Battle.net Catalog

In a move that has caught many fans by surprise, Blizzard and CD Projekt have announced that Cyberpunk 2077, along with its expansion, will be making its way to the Battle.net storefront later this year. This decision comes shortly after the reveal that the remastered version of The Witcher 3 would also find a home on the platform.

While players often speculate about the possibility of more classic Blizzard titles appearing on Steam for improved compatibility with devices like the Steam Deck, the focus remains on integrating third-party titles into the Battle.net ecosystem. Cyberpunk 2077 will join an eclectic group of non-Blizzard games already present on the launcher, including titles such as Sea of Thieves, the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 collection, and The Outer Worlds 2.

A Crossover of Worlds

The synergy between the two companies extends beyond mere distribution. As part of this collaboration, the iconic protagonist of The Witcher series, Geralt of Rivia, is set to appear in Diablo 4. Players who choose to pre-purchase the Songs of the Past DLC for The Witcher 3 directly through Battle.net will unlock an exclusive Barbarian class skin modeled after the witcher himself.

Blizzard and CD Projekt have hinted at more ambitious plans for the future. According to industry reports:

  • Additional “Witcher-themed content” is expected to arrive as early as 2027.
  • Overwatch players can look forward to a wave of Edgerunners-inspired cosmetic items coming next year.

“The integration of iconic characters like Geralt into the Diablo universe marks a significant milestone in this partnership, bridging the gap between two legendary franchises,” notes industry commentary.

This news follows the buzz surrounding the upcoming second season of Edgerunners, which is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 20.
