Adjusting Weapon Durability After Player Feedback

Following a recent shift in its update strategy, Embark Studios has released patch 1.29.0 for Arc Raiders. While major content updates are now scheduled for twice a year, the developers continue to focus on consistent balancing changes. A primary highlight of this update is the partial rollback of previous weapon durability nerfs, which had become a significant point of frustration for the community.

Previously, developers attempted to increase resource consumption by reducing how long weapons lasted in the field. However, player response indicated that the mechanic was overly punitive. In response, Embark has increased the durability of several staple weapons, noting that the previous reductions were "too much."

Increased Weapon Longevity

The developers have reinforced several key items, with durability improvements ranging from 18% to 54% depending on the model. The weapons receiving these upgrades include the Ferro, Anvil, Canto, Osprey, Renegade, Torrente, Bettina, and Jupiter. The Renegade received the most substantial buff, increasing its capacity from 175 to 269 shots for tier 1 versions.

According to the patch notes, Embark stated:

«We will monitor for any pain points that come up around durability in the coming weeks, and continue to adjust accordingly.»

Introducing the Rascal Grenade Launcher

Beyond balancing, the update introduces the Rascal, a compact, pocket-sized grenade launcher designed as an accessible anti-ARC tactical option. Its official description highlights its role as a versatile sidearm:

«Lightweight, compact, and easy to carry, this unconventional launcher packs a punch despite its… quirks. While it’s slower to reload, and a bit unpredictable on the aim, the Rascal shines as a reliable side-arm for those who want anti-ARC firepower without the risk of lugging around a Hullcracker.»

Quality-of-Life Improvements

Patch 1.29.0 also addresses several quality-of-life requests. Players can now view teammate information following a match conclusion. Additionally, the update introduces the Nomadic Envoy, a new trader character, aimed at expanding the current trading mechanics within the game world.
