Advanced Home Security Integration
Apple has officially introduced the LG Video Doorbell Wired, a sophisticated security solution developed as part of the new Apple Home Collection. Created in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, this device is engineered to function flawlessly with the Apple Home platform and the recently announced HomeView hub.
Setup is designed for user convenience, allowing for configuration with a simple tap via an iPhone, entirely bypassing the need for additional third-party applications or account registrations.
Dual-Lens Monitoring and Smart Features
The standout feature of the new doorbell is its dual-camera system, which provides comprehensive coverage of both visitors and package deliveries. Users have the flexibility to toggle between a front-facing camera, recording in 2.5K resolution, and a downward-facing lens that captures video in Full HD. The device also includes an integrated spotlight and a smart chime that broadcasts notifications directly through Apple HomeView, HomePod, or HomePod mini.
Integration with the Apple Home app allows residents to:
- Monitor live video streams in real-time.
- Receive instant alerts when the doorbell is triggered.
- Communicate with guests directly through their Apple devices.
Furthermore, when used in conjunction with the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, homeowners can manage door access directly from the same interface or by utilizing Siri voice commands.
Privacy and Data Intelligence
Security is a core focus of the new hardware. As Apple notes regarding its Home Collection, footage is protected with end-to-end encryption. This ensures that neither Apple, LG Electronics, nor Schneider Electric have the capability to access user video data.
For users subscribed to iCloud+, the system offers:
«Up to 10 days of event video history, while Apple Intelligence enhances the experience by providing automated video descriptions and enabling natural language searches through recorded footage.»
The LG Video Doorbell Wired is scheduled for a UK release in December, with pricing starting at £229.95. It will be available for purchase through Apple's official website and retail locations.
