Understanding Siri AI Availability

After upgrading to iOS 27, many users are surprised to find that the new Siri AI does not activate automatically. By default, the system continues to use the classic version of the assistant. Because Siri AI is currently in its Beta phase, users must manually configure their settings to unlock its advanced capabilities.


Hardware and Regional Requirements

Before attempting to enable the feature, ensure your device meets the strict criteria required for Apple Intelligence. Currently, Siri AI is restricted to:

  • Compatible Devices: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and newer models. Standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models are not supported.
  • Supported Regions: The feature is available in most regions, excluding mainland China and the European Union.
  • Language Settings: As of now, Siri AI operates exclusively in English. Both your device language and Siri language settings must be configured to English (US).

How to Enable Siri AI

To begin using the assistant, you must first join the official waitlist. Access times can vary significantly, ranging from a few minutes to several days.

Initial Configuration

  1. Navigate to General > Language & Region in Settings.
  2. Ensure English (US) is set as your primary device language.
  3. Return to the main Settings menu, select Siri, and confirm that the language is also set to English (US).

Joining the Waitlist

  1. In the Settings menu, look for the "Try Siri AI (Beta)" prompt. If this option is missing, your device likely does not meet the hardware requirements.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts; you may select "Not Now" when asked about sharing audio and text with Apple.
  3. Once completed, you will see a "Joined Waiting List" status. You will receive a system notification once the feature is active for your device.

Once activated, Siri AI offers enhanced functionality that goes beyond basic commands:
