Transitioning to Warhammer Blood Bowl

The latest digital adaptation of the classic tabletop fantasy football game, Blood Bowl 3, is preparing for a major transition. The title will eventually be replaced by an updated version titled Warhammer Blood Bowl. This new iteration is now under the publishing banner of Slitherine, taking over from Focus Home Interactive.

Slitherine has confirmed that current owners of Blood Bowl 3 will receive the new game at no additional cost, and existing player accounts will be migrated to the new platform.

The Fate of Your Warpstone

A primary concern among the community is the status of Warpstone, the premium currency used to acquire teams and cosmetic items. Players have been worried that they might lose their unspent balances once Blood Bowl 3 is phased out later this year.

A representative from Slitherine addressed these concerns, providing clarity for the player base:

«Players will use the same BB account on both games, so they will instantly get all cosmetics, warpstones and teams they bought in BB3, into WH BB».

Changes to Team Unlocks

While your currency and previous purchases are secure, the acquisition model for future teams remains under evaluation. The representative noted, «We are still thinking about how to handle Teams,» which has sparked speculation regarding whether the game might revert to a model similar to Blood Bowl 2, where extra teams were provided via DLC.

Beta Impressions and Improvements

The Warhammer Blood Bowl beta is currently available for those interested in playtesting; access can be requested directly via the Steam store page. Early testers have noted significant quality-of-life improvements, including:

  • Save and Quit: The ability to pause and resume matches at any time.
  • Rumble Mode: A new seven-a-side format for players looking for a faster, smaller-scale experience.
  • UI Enhancements: Intuitive tooltips, such as hovering over an icon to see specific weather condition impacts.
