A New Contender in Home Robotics

The landscape of household automation is evolving rapidly. While major players like LG and SwitchBot have teased full-sized service robots at recent tech exhibitions, a US-based startup, Weave Robotics, has taken a decisive step forward by officially opening pre-orders for its latest innovation, the Isaac 1.

Founded in 2024 by former Apple engineers, the startup aims to redefine home assistance. Having previously developed the stationary Isaac 0, the company has now introduced a fully autonomous, mobile solution designed to navigate domestic environments and handle repetitive tasks.

Capabilities and Design

The Isaac 1 is engineered to perform a variety of mundane household duties, including:

  • Folding laundry and managing clothing organization.
  • Tidying up rooms by picking up toys and shoes.
  • Making beds and fluffing pillows.

Physically, the robot features a distinct aesthetic. Wrapped in soft fabric, it utilizes a wheeled base for mobility, a collapsible torso, and articulated arms with grippers. A notable feature is its height-adjustable frame, which can expand from 3 inches up to 5.9 inches, allowing it to adapt to different surfaces and storage needs. When not in use, the unit can retract its torso to occupy less space.

Technology and User Control

The internal architecture of the Isaac 1 relies on proprietary actuators and integrated safety systems. Connectivity is managed via Wi-Fi, allowing users to operate the device through a dedicated mobile application whether they are at home or away.

«Weave Robotics states that the Isaac 1 only works when you want it to, and provides physical indicators to ensure users know exactly when the robot is active or inactive.»

The robot boasts an eight-hour battery life and requires approximately two hours for a full charge. To suit different home aesthetics, it is available in five distinct color options.

Pricing and Availability

For those interested in adopting this technology, the Isaac 1 is currently available for pre-order. The company offers two payment structures:

  • An upfront purchase price of $7,999.
  • A subscription model priced at $449 per month.
