A Pocket-Sized Digital Companion

Bandai has recently excited the global fanbase of the iconic digital pet by introducing the Tamagotchi ring. Unlike previous accessories that merely mimicked the look of the toy, this latest iteration is a fully functional, playable Tamagotchi designed to be worn on a finger. The company revealed three distinct aesthetic options: an iridescent white and pink, a classic silver and black, and a premium gold and blue.

Availability and Launch Details

Pre-orders for the device officially began on August 27 and are scheduled to run until October 6. Currently, the product is exclusive to the Japanese market, and there has been no confirmation regarding a potential international release. Given the immense popularity of the franchise, third-party resellers offering international shipping saw their stock vanish almost instantly.

Priced at 7,700 yen (approximately $48), the device is remarkably compact, officially holding the title of the smallest functional Tamagotchi ever produced—even smaller than the existing Mini and Nano lines. Despite its miniature stature, it stands out by incorporating a color screen.

Gameplay and Design Features

The device supports the development of over 30 different characters. According to demonstration footage, the three buttons typically found on the front of a traditional egg-shaped device are merely cosmetic. Instead, users interact with the digital pet via two buttons located on the sides of the ring. To ensure continuous play, the device comes with a specialized charging cradle.

«While some might label such a device as a mere novelty, its charming design and impressive engineering make it an incredibly desirable piece of tech,» suggests the general consensus among enthusiasts.

The official launch is slated for February 2027. Fans are already looking ahead, hoping that Bandai’s ability to shrink the technology into a ring will eventually lead to a more compact, aesthetically pleasing watch-style Tamagotchi that avoids the bulky design of previous wrist-worn models.
