Samsung Display has officially commenced the mass production of its VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 panels. These cutting-edge displays are now being supplied to prominent laptop manufacturers, including Lenovo, Asus, Dell, and MSI. Setting New Standards in Brightness
The VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard, which was unveiled earlier this month, sets rigorous performance benchmarks. To meet this certification, a display must provide exceptional contrast and color depth. Samsung explains the technical requirements as follows:
«The certification requires the display to reproduce black levels of 0.0005 nits or lower while achieving a peak brightness of 1,400 nits at a 10% On Pixel Ratio (OPR).»
Compared to the previous True Black 1000 standard, this represents a 40% increase in peak brightness. In practical application, Samsung’s new tandem OLEDs can reach up to 1,600 nits, offering a substantial improvement over traditional single-layer OLED panels that typically cap at 1,100 nits.
