Structural Changes at Bungie

Bungie, the developer behind "Destiny 2" and the upcoming "Marathon," is undergoing a new wave of staff reductions. Following the release of the final content update for "Destiny 2" on June 9, the studio confirmed it is reorganizing its operations. While exact figures were not disclosed, Hermen Hulst, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment's Studio Business Group, noted that the cuts impact a significant portion of the "Destiny" team and select members of the "Marathon" staff.

In an official statement, the studio explained: «We recognize 'Destiny 2' fell short of expectations these past several years. Following our final content update to 'Destiny 2,' and with our future projects still in early incubation, we unfortunately could not continue operating at our previous size.» This marks the latest in a series of layoffs at the studio since its acquisition by Sony.

«The introduction of a globally recognized character such as Sonic the Hedgehog to Nex Playground represents a significant achievement for our community,» said David Lee, CEO of Nex. Additionally, Nex is teaming up with HYBE to introduce a BTS-branded interactive music experience for its "Starri" game, utilizing the platform's motion-tracking technology to allow players to engage with the music through physical movement.
