Apple has announced the MacBook Neo, a new budget-friendly laptop starting at $799 CAD. Designed to offer the premium Apple experience at a more accessible price, it features a durable aluminum frame available in four colors: blush, indigo, silver, and a new citrus option.

The 13-inch Liquid Retina display supports 1 billion colors. A key highlight is the inclusion of the A18 Pro chip, previously used in the iPhone 16 series, which Apple claims delivers significantly faster performance for web browsing and on-device AI tasks compared to PCs with Intel Core Ultra 5 processors.

Senior VP John Ternus stated the Neo delivers "the magic of the Mac at a breakthrough price." It includes all-day battery life, a 1080p camera, a Magic Keyboard, and is entirely fanless for silent operation.

The laptop emphasizes environmental sustainability, constructed with 90% recycled aluminum, a battery made from 100% recycled cobalt, and using a manufacturing process that consumes 50% less aluminum. Its packaging is also fiber-based and recyclable.

The MacBook Neo is available for pre-order in 30 countries, including Canada, with deliveries beginning March 11th.
