A New Chapter for ORICO

After establishing a 17-year reputation in the data storage and peripheral market, ORICO has officially branched out into the laptop industry with the release of the Obook15. This new device marks the company's first foray into producing a full-fledged computer, specifically targeting students, entry-level professionals, and content creators.

Performance and Storage Capabilities

At the heart of the Obook15 sits the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H processor, an 8-core chip that offers 16 threads and boost speeds reaching 4.7GHz. Graphics tasks are handled by the integrated Radeon 680M GPU. The laptop is available in memory configurations of 12GB or 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM, clocked at 6400MT/s.

One of the device's standout features is its flexible storage system. It includes two M.2 2280 slots: one is occupied by the factory-installed PCIe 3.0 drive (available in 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB capacities), while the second remains open for future upgrades. Remarkably, this secondary slot supports PCIe 4.0 drives with capacities up to 4TB, providing users with significant headroom for expansion.

Display, Design, and Connectivity

The notebook features a 15.6-inch matte IPS display with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. The panel is housed within slim 5mm bezels, achieving an 81% screen-to-body ratio. The display is supported by a 180-degree hinge, allowing it to lay completely flat. Additionally, the integrated 1MP webcam comes equipped with a physical privacy shutter.

Connectivity options are robust, including:

  • Two 10Gbps USB-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 support
  • One HDMI 2.0 port
  • One 5Gbps USB-A port and one 480Mbps USB-A port
  • A dedicated DC input for charging
  • 3.5mm audio combo jack

The device is powered by a 54.29Wh battery paired with a 100W adapter. For wireless communication, it supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

AI Integration and Market Positioning

The Obook15 differentiates itself with the inclusion of XiaoAo, an AI assistant designed to streamline workflow automation and device management.

“Obook 15 AI Laptop is our answer to intelligent productivity,”
noted Yeyou Xu, CEO of ORICO.
“We combine capable hardware with an AI agent designed to reduce routine workload, bringing advanced features to the mainstream segment.”
